Rise ‘N Shine magazine, a brainchild of four people with disabilities, opened its doors in 2010. The founders of Rise ‘N Shine were bread winners and their income was from a disability grants. They wanted to do away with dependency on grants as their vision was beyond this. Unfortunately, some of the members have since died and some resigned.
Rise ‘N Shine is a bi-monthly community magazine focusing on the disability sector. The magazine distributes 5,000 copies every first week of the second month at all major disability centres and various strategic points. This includes hospitals, social development departments, health departments and transformation centres. Rise ‘N Shine publishes easy-to-follow articles which aim to educate, inform and prevent marginalisation of people with disabilities.
